Requirements for Travelers
Between the United
States and the Western Hemisphere
• ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda are required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document.
At this time, this law does not include traveling to these destinations by SEA. (However, even if your cruise does not involve air travel outside the U.S., should you be required to unexpectedly depart a vessel prior to the end of the sailing, a passport would be required to re-enter the U.S. by air.) As such, the cruise lines continue to strongly recommend that all passengers are in possession of a passport by Summer 2008. Information regarding the passport requirements is available at www.travel.state.gov. Foreign nationals should contact their governments for further details.
• 2009 - exact date to be announced later. ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), will be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.
• For all other cruise destinations such as certain Hawaiian itineraries that include Fanning Island, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Antarctica a valid passport is required. Additional passport and visa requirements may apply as well. A passport should be valid for at least 6 months after the end of your trip.
